PRESENT SITUATION

At present (March 2003) this boarding school has 96 students. divided in 8 groups / classes. Every year the number of students increases by 12. There are now nine teachers and seven sisters take care of the boarding.

The school is still under construction: The third phase is planned to be ready in 2005. This phase involves an extension with 4 classrooms, 1 cook's house, 8 teacher's houses, a boarding for the older boys and one for the older girls, workshops for sewing and for woodwork.

THE OFFICIAL OPENING

On 4 November 2000 the school was officially opened by the President of Malawi, Dr. Bakili Muluzi.
Other special guests were, among others, the Catholic Archbishop of Blantyre, Most Rev. James Chiona.
Donors from outside Malawi have contributed very substantially to this project.
The care for the children in the boarding is entrusted to religious sisters SBVM

One of the speakers during the opening ceremony was Brother Wladimir van Heck f.i.c., the co-ordinator of the building of this boarding school.
