SCHOOL FOR DEAF CHILDREN Jakarta, Indonesia |
| In 1983 a start was made with a school for deaf children in West Java. Teaching deaf children is a very intensive form of education: the classes many not comprise more than 10 pupils. Besides whole-class teaching, all the pupils also get individual speech training to learn to speak well. |
| The total number of pupils at this institute amounts to 250, in the ages from two to 21. This institute has no boarding, but at noon the pupils have lunch at school, for their homes may be miles away from school. |
|
| The computer needs hold no secret for deaf children. They too can communicate with other / hearing people |

For children who are not able to follow regular secondary education, the
school also offers a secondary technical vocational training to be , for
instance, a tailor, a cook and confectioner, a hair dresser and a beautician. |
| The silkscreen printing of logos, badges and banners will enable the pupils to make their own living later on. |
