| The Netherlands opened heart and purse for Haiti. Over 100 million! Splendid! We were proud of one another. |
| February 2010: earthquake in Chile plus tsunami. Much more powerful than in Haiti. The world is not shocked and pays hardly any attention. How is that? Chile learned from previous earthquakes and is better prepared. That is why the death toll remained "limited" to one thousand. |
| But our brothers in Chile are shocked when they see all around what took place and are themselves directly involved in: |
| The school in Talca, which the brothers took under their care 60 years ago to provide better education for the poorest, must now be demolished. |
| - The large house where the brothers have been living for 50 years must also be broken down. |
| - The brothers neighbours have lost their homes and are desperate. |
| In the past many of you supported the brothers in Chile. This made it possible for them to work together with the people for a solid future. The result was a new housing compound, a good primary school, a comprehensive technical school for youth and adults, and more. |
| All these structures withstood the earthquake! |
